Charles Schwab to End Commissions on US, Canadian Stocks, ETF, Options Trades

10:11 AM EDT, 10/01/2019 (MT Newswires) -- Charles Schwab (SCHW) said Tuesday that it's getting rid of commissions for stocks, ETFs and options listed on US or Canadian exchanges starting on Oct. 7
Clients are now charged $4.95 per stock, ETF and option trade. The new service comes with no minimum account size, according to the brokerage firm. Trading options will continue to pay $0.65 per contract, the company said.
Shares plunged 8.5% in morning trading Tuesday.
Shares of E*TRADE Financial (ETFC) were down 17% and TD Ameritrade (AMTD) plunged 22%.
